About Float Pods

• Do I need to bring anything?

  At Zen Den we take the hassle out of floating. We provide all you need to enjoy your float. Your personal float room has a deluxe towel, plant based shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, earplugs, paw paw gel, as well as makeup remover and hair ties if required.

  You may wish to bring personal items such as makeup, hairbrush or contact lenses if applicable.

• What do I wear in the pod?

  As your float room is completely private, we recommend wearing nothing at all in the pod. This will allow you to float freely and comfortably and achieve the greatest benefits from your float. Swimming attire or underwear can feel restrictive and also may fade or stretch given the high salt content within the pod. However, if you would feel more at ease, then you may bring your swimming attire along to wear whilst floating.

• Are there any times that it is recommended that I don’t float?

  Zen Den Float Pods are safe to use although there are some situations where floating is not recommended.

  These situations include:

  • You are under 15 years of age
  • You have had your hair coloured or a spray tan within a week prior to your float
  • You have open wounds, skin ulcers, have recently shaved, have recent tattoos or fresh piercings
  • You are badly sunburnt
  • Suffer from contagious diseases
  • Are suffering from gastroenteritis or diarrhoea, or have suffered from these
    conditions within 14 days prior to your float
  • You suffer from incontinence It is recommended that you seek medical advice prior to floating if you suffer from any of the following:
  • Epilepsy
  • Kidney disease
  • Extreme low blood pressure
  • Serious heart conditions or wear a pacemaker
    
  • Asthma
    
  • Psychosis or severe panic attacks
    
  • Severe skin conditions
    
  • You have a sensitivity to bromine, chlorine, magnesium or sulphate
    
  • Are in the first or third trimester of pregnancy

  For safety reasons, you will not be permitted to utilise floatation Pods at Zen Den if you are under the influence or liquor or drugs.

• How often should I book a float?

  There is no set directions on how often you need to float.

  We recommend floating regularly to maintain the benefits that you receive from floating. Life is often busy, and sometimes we don’t have the time to float, but it is normally in these busy times that a float is really beneficial to your health and well being. Making the time is important when you can. We understand this is easier said than done sometimes.

  For long term results and benefits, it is suggested to book in and enjoy a float at least every month. Of course if you have the time fortnightly, weekly or even a couple of times a week is beneficial.

• What are the benefits of floating?

  Floating is fantastic. It is a simple and effective way to achieve so many benefits and also assists in the healing and management of many ailments.

• What is an Enhanced Therapy float?

  Zen Den uses a unique platform of sounds, music, entrainment, and guided imagery to first of all relax the conscious mind, then gently engage and transport the floater to a place of deep learning in the subconscious where they’ll be able to alter behaviour, improve performance, and relieve physical conditions far more effectively than with floating alone. The programs are simple and easy to follow and are specifically designed for the floating environment.

• Are the float pods at Zen Den clean?

  Yes. We ensure our float pods are cleaned and sanitised prior to every float. This cleaning and sanitising process is conducted between every float session so you can be assured that the water you are floating in is clean, safe and hygienic.

  The filtration system of our pods is of the highest quality and the procedure ensures the pods are fully filtered numerous times during each filtration session.

  The highly condensed Epsom salt quantities as well as the UV light and hydrogen peroxide processes, ensures the integrity of the cleanliness and safety of the water.

  We also conduct thorough daily testing of the water and adhere to manufacturer’s guidelines as well as appropriate Australian standards, regulations and legislation.

• Can I float if I am pregnant?

  Yes. Floating is a great way to relax and has many other benefits if you are pregnant.

  If you are in your first or third trimester, or if you have any concerns at all, it is recommended to speak to your doctor prior to booking a float.

  Can I float if I have my period?

  Yes. It is perfectly ok to float during this time. Please practice the same procedures as if you were in a swimming pool or other similar activity.

• What if I am claustrophobic?

  This is a common question and one where many people raise concern. You can certainly enjoy the benefits of floating even if you are claustrophobic. You are always in control of your float session and you can raise the lid of the pod easily and at any time during your float. You can even float with the lid open if you wish, although it is recommended to always try to have it shut to receive the most benefits from your float.

  You also have the option of leaving the internal light on if you wish.

• What if I can’t swim?

  Do not worry if you cannot swim or you have difficulties floating in a pool or the ocean. You will easily be able to float in a floatation pod at Zen Den and you can enjoy all the benefits that come from floating.

  The water is not deep and is highly concentrated with magnesium salts so you naturally and easily float on it. You will be completely safe during your float.

• Can more than one person float in the same pod at a time?

  We only allow one person to float in a pod at a time. This allows you to receive the most benefit from your float session. At Zen Den we have adjoining float rooms, each with their own pod and shower. This area can be opened to cater for couples to float together.

• What happens if I fall asleep while in the pod?

  No need to worry if you fall asleep during your float. Many people do. You will simply float effortlessly and dreamily on the water. If you are still asleep at the conclusion of your float you will awaken to the music at the end of your session.

  Give yourself a moment to wake up and become aware of your surroundings and then step out of the pod.
